Description
This book provides a perceptive and extremely suggestive analysis of the Principles of Aesthetics in the Indian context. With a vast and penetrative scholarship he has shown, by interpreting the Rgvedic hymns, the Brahmanas and the Upanisadic literature, the roots and the development of the principles of fine art. He has also convincingly demonstrated how the later Indian Poetics (Alankara Sastra) and other forms of aesthetic expression (like Paintings, Sculpture, Music, Dance, etc.) are but the elaborations and emendations of these suggestions found implicitly in the Vedic literature.
