Aspects of Tantra Yoga
Vijnana Bhairava or Divine Consciousness
Vijnanabhairava is a very ancient book on yoga. It studiously eschews mechanical worship, external rites and ceremonies and goes directly to the heart of the problem of the union of humanconsciousness withthe Divine. There is no theoretical discussion in the Book.It describes112 types of yoga each of which is a precious gem delineating the mystic approach to the Divine. For this purpose, it makes full use of all the aspects of human life--prana, manas, imagination and intuition.
Saiva Philosophy of Kashmir
The goal and purpose in writing this book is to highlight,in the midst of diversity, the essential unity that seems to be constitutive of such religions that have an orientation that is deeply mystical. Basing himself on the absolutistic metaphysical thought of Kashmir Saivism, the author thereby has attempted to interpret spirituality in such universal terms as would enable one to discover the principle of unity of being among the spiritualities of all major religions. Thus the aim of the book is so noble as to allow the reader to have the vision of unity in the midst of diversity.
Light on the Doctrine of Krama A Translation of Srikramanaya-pradipika of Swami Lakshmanjoo
Swami Lakshmanjoo was born in Kashmir in 1907. He revived Kashmir Saiva Darsana through his teachings and discourses, and was the last in the unbroken lineage of Saiva masters. This book is an English translation of a short treatise on Krama written by him in 1958. Swami Lakshmanjoo brings Kalisastra to light, describing the twelve Kalis, as given in the Kramastotra and the Tantraloka. In doing so, he presents the twelve sequential states of yoga for the highest of yogis (one who is endowed with the miracle of Turiya in the three states of wakefulness, dreaming and dreamless sleep).
Spandapradipika A Commentary on the Spandakarika by Bhagavadutpalacarya
The Spandapradipika is a commentary on the Spanda Karika, an early, seminal Kashmiri Saiva text. This commentary is by Bhagavadutpala, also known as Utpala Vaisnava, who lived in 10th century Kashmir. It is important both because it is early and especially because it contains copious references to Pancaratra sources--the earliest dateable ones so far recovered. Mark Dyczkowski has translated this text in his book Stanzas on Vibration. The Spandakarika with Four Commentaries.
